Snorkel AI grew out of research at the Stanford AI Lab on data programming and weak supervision, and was founded in 2019. The company now describes itself as a frontier AI data lab, producing specialized datasets with curriculum structure, custom evaluation systems and domain benchmarks for areas such as software engineering, insurance, finance and legal work. It also builds specialized agents on top of that data for enterprise workflows. Partners listed on its site include Google, Microsoft, Amazon Web Services, Anthropic and OpenAI.
